Description

Is there a hair gel for curly hair that smoothes and styles simultaneously? You bet.

Chances are you want to define your curls without weighing them down without alcohol or damaging chemicals that can destroy your hair… Easier said than done right?

Moreover, several styling gels contain alcohol and corrosive chemicals that can destroy your hair for good.

Behold our Defined Hair Gel: an alcohol-free curl-defining gel blended with natural ingredients. This vegan plant-based gel is a quality mix of Aloe Vera, water, Sclerotium Gum, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, and sweet orange or lavender essential oils (for the scented options). It offers a medium, gentle, but effective hold: perfect for curly or wavy-haired beauties!

Beautiful, defined tresses aside, this vegan curl gel improves hair health. The Aloe Vera ensures long-lasting strength and shine. What’s not to love?

Like all our products, this curl-defining gel for natural hair contains no allergens, silicones, sulfates, phthalates, parabens, or artificial colors and fragrances.

If you’re thinking about getting it… Just do it. I have never had better results with any other products! I combine the defining gel with the sea salt spray and my curls LOVE IT. I don’t like a lengthy routine either. Out the shower, air dry for a bit, apply 1 pump for each side of my hair (3 total), spray a little of the sea salt and BAM compliments galore. People think I curl it or use curlers. I’m very happy with the results but I’m BEYOND happy that it’s also a more sustainable product. I will be purchasing the regular refills. I wish I could post before and after pictures for these products. I also live by the great lakes so the humidity is high at times. Curls still look fabulous and the frizz is brought down significantly.

I had been using the Flaxseed gel, but didn’t get the cast I would like to see. I was thinking about trying a different company as I knew the Flaxseed wouldn’t hold once the humid summer came. I am glad I tried the Defined Hair Gel first. Oh my, the Defined Hair Gel gives a strong cast. Love! I don’t SOTC, but let the cast release naturally.

This is one of the few products I’ve been able to find that works consistently on my curls. It’s light but holds well. I love the refillable option, too. I hate waste.

I love this product. It holds my very curly hair without flaking and without being too stiff. The orange scent is light and not overpowering.

Q & A

What is Sclerotium Gum? April Smith asked on March 21, 2022

This is such a rad ingredient! Sclerotium gum is a polysaccharide gum (basically a sticky sugar) that is naturally derived from fermented fungus.

We find that this is more personal preference, here is a link to the differences between our hair gels: http://asimpleplanet.com/finding-the-right-hair-gel/

I’m an African American that has soft hair that curls when wet, but curls go away when air dried. Are any of your gels good to help keep the curl pattern when dry? If so which do you recommend. Deborah Richie asked on February 15, 2022

Hi Deborah, Thank you for asking. Here is a link to our blog article about the differences between our hair gels, I think Flaxseed Hair Gel will work beautifully for your hair type. http://asimpleplanet.com/finding-the-right-hair-gel/

Will this make hair crunchy feeling? Becky asked on September 30, 2021

Hi Becky,

Thank you for asking! Defined Hair Gel works best when left untouched after application on wet hair. After your hair is dry, you should feel a light cast, this cast should then be scrunched out leaving no crunchy feeling behind.

I hope that helps!
