I can’t say enough about how amazing these products are. I’m a hairstylist and I’ve been testing them on my clients for the last 2 weeks. Everyone loves them and best of all, my chronic eczema on my hands has disappeared. If you struggle with skin/scalp problems please check out this brand. Love the products!! Really work well on my curly hair!
These products were very disappointing -- some of them plain didn't work and others did the *opposite* of what they were supposed to do (I'm looking at you, "frizz free"). For the most part they left my hair frizzier, more flyaway, and less manageable than using no conditioner or styling products at all. They also clogged my pores and, in the case of the gel, broke me out in painful pimples on my scalp, which I never get. I was planning on giving a "2" rating because at least they washed out okay until I tried the gel, which is still stuck in my hair -- making it sticky, knotty, frizzy, flyaway, and prone to breakage -- despite washing with three different shampoos, one of which was A Simple Planet's own *clarifying* shampoo. I'm really disappointed at how much money I wasted and how many days I was embarrassed in front of my friends because testing the products made it look like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket.
Detangles hair well! But can look greasy if you overdo it.
I love this stuff! Most products I've tried in the past were overly fragrant and left a weird residue on my hair. This stuff has great hold and no gross build up!
Super happy with these product. My hair stylist shared it with me because of severe allergies I have to everything else I’ve tried. The simple ingredients and commitment to sustainability are the core of what I love, but being able to customize without fragrance is amazing. I was worried my hair would feel greasy without ingredients in other branda but that’s simply not the case. I hope this company takes the market by storm and is able to extend brand awareness, especially for those of us where “hypoallergenic” and “fragrance free” products still cause issues. I would have used them a long time ago if I had found them! Also shipping was fantastically fast! Total bonus.
I really love how clean these products are and the fact that they work just as well as their chemical counterparts. I especially love the shampoo which cleanses but doesn't leave my hair feeling stripped. And the refresh spray is amazing! I have one strand in front that doesn't curl easily - even with washing and styling and this spray perks the curl right up. The starter pack is a perfect way to try these products at a reasonable price.
I have fine, curly hair and have tried every imaginable product. Love the shampoo/conditioner. Still experimenting with which gel works best, and whether or not I like the refresh spray. I'm very happy I tried this line and think I'll be sticking with it.
I tried the Mix-ins and so far I really like the Hair Oil and Protein Elixir. I have a hair gel that I previously bought. It works well enough, but I really wasn't getting as much curl definition as I liked unless I combined it with a protein curl creme which was just too much product on my hair. I do need to finish it up before I can really switch over to the Flaxseed or Defined gels as I don't want to waste the product. Adding a couple of spritzes to the gel really amped up my curl definition. I am really hoping it does the same thing with the Flaxseed gel as I really love how it moisturizes my hair but wasn't quite as pleased with the curl definition. I've already ordered the larger bottle of the Protein Elixir as my hair which has been colored for years seems to really like a small dose of protein here and there.
I really like the Hair Oil and have already bought the larger bottle of it too. My hair is really dry and just soaks up oil. I have been using it to seal my hair after using a leave-in conditioner (LOC method) and also use it on dry ends and frizz once my hair dries. On non-wash days I use it once or twice a day to help combat frizz and dry ends. It is going to last forever even with frequent use. 2 spritzes is the perfect amount per usage for my hair. It has not made my hair or scalp feel oily or greasy. It seems to work as well as the argon and coconut oils that I have previously used.
I ordered the "I Want it All #1" trial package (Refresh Curl Revitalizer, Frizz Free, Sea Salt Spray, Detangler, Leave-In Conditioner) in September and loved the Refresh and Frizz Free products so much that I ordered full sized bottles, plus the trial sizes of everything else I wanted to try, which were all conveniently rolled up in "I Want it All #3" (Flaxseed Hair Gel, Light Hold Hair Gel, Protein Elixir, Hair Oil.)
I was accidentally sent Wavy/Curly #3 by mistake, but I just used the Contact Us form on the site to report the issue and immediately heard back. Instead of asking me to return the package (which included the hair gel I needed desperately), they just asked for a photo and then sent me the missing pieces right away. I'm already loving the hair gels and I'm excited to learn how to use the protein elixir and the hair oil, which just arrived today.
These are fantastic products! I have the refills in my cart as we speak to purchase and continue getting my hair back to its healthy and wavy/curly ways!

My curls are enjoying the products so far, and I appreciate the waste-free options! The bottles and spritzers are sturdy. The lavendar smells great.
I wish there were more tutorials on your products, especially the 2 gels. I love the refresher spray but haven't quite mastered using the gels.

Gel not nearly strong enough hold
I really was hoping this would be the answer to my zero-waste curls search, but I don't think this is it unfortunately. I love that the testers come in aluminium bottles and the whole business model of this company, but when it comes to performance, I find the products lacking. I have very curly hair and live in an area with a lot of humidity. These products don't stand up to that combo. I don't get anywhere near enough hold from the defining gel and I don't really like the spray at all. I don't get enough frizz control on the day I style my curls, and the day 2 frizz is too much. The shampoo and conditioner are fine, but I don't notice anything spectacular when I use them. Sadly, I'll have to keep looking I guess.
My first experience with this brand and I'm loving it. I have fine very wavy hair and this shampoo flaxseed combo is just what my hair needed. I quit beauty single use plastics and my hair has suffered through the bar shampoos and conditioners. Now I can get my hair back and have no guilt. So so happy. Thank you!
Used the products twice so far and love them! I think the flaxseed gel is the secret weapon I've been looking for in all the wrong places! I applied it to my wet hair and it air dried with impressive curls and waves with no crunch and no frizz! The next day there was only a slight fuzzing on the outer layer of hair from sleeping. I spritzed a little water and then the refresher spray and scrunched it back into the same shape as the day before! It's crazy how simple it is! Love it!

I've only used the products for one wash day so far, but I'm so impressed! The shampoo lathers great, and my hair feels nice and clean, light, and shiny. The gel has great hold without being stiff/heavy. I already ordered refills for the shampoo and conditioner!
My husband purchased this for me, for my birthday. I have seriously tried a ridiculous amount of different products to get my curls to come out of hiding. Everything just left my hair flat, or greasy, or frizzy. I used these products and it was the first time I have been in love with my hair since starting the curly girl method 4 years ago!!! I would say the only downside is I feel I have to use a ridiculous amount of the conditioner to get my hair to that “ seaweed” feeling, but i don’t really care because my hair has never looked or felt better!
I'm always a little nervous testing out a new curly hair product, so this was the perfect way to sample without fully committing.

This is a great starter set! The only thing for me that I didn't love was that the flaxseed gel didn't have the hold I wanted it to! I love the shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo is almost clarifying and the conditioner offers great "slip"! I bought the orange scent and it smells sooooo good! Love the refillable bottles and the minimal waste!
